Questions

Everything you might ask before making a book.

How collaborative photo books work, what they cost, how they are made, and what happens to your photos. If something is missing, just ask.

The basics

What is Keepsakes?

Keepsakes is a collaborative photo book service. Instead of one person sifting through their own camera roll, everyone who was there contributes their photos to a shared book, you start from a designed template rather than a blank page, and an AI concierge lays out the spreads. The finished book is printed, hand-bound and delivered to your door.

How is this different from making a photo book on my own?

Two things. First, the photos: most photo book tools only ever see one person's camera roll, so the trip is told from a single point of view. Keepsakes pools everyone's. Second, the effort: most tools hand you an empty canvas and several thousand photos, which is why so many photo books are started and never finished. Keepsakes starts you from a template and lays the pages out automatically from your dates, locations and routes, so you are editing something rather than building from nothing.

Do I have to design the book myself?

No. Pick a style and the pages lay themselves out — photos are sorted by date, grouped by location, and placed into layouts that suit how many you have. You can change anything you like afterwards, page by page, but you never start from a blank page.

How do I get other people's photos into the book?

You share a secure invitation link. Anyone who opens it can add their photos to the shared pool without needing to design anything, and you stay in control of what makes it into the final book. You can revoke a collaborator's access at any time from your dashboard.

Where can my photos come from?

You can upload directly from your phone or computer, or import from Google Photos. For the Google Photos import we only ever receive the specific photos you pick in Google's own picker — we cannot see the rest of your library, and we never modify or delete anything in it.

Do you make books for races and activities?

Yes. Activity books are built for runs, races and rides: alongside your photos they can include your route map, distance, pace, elevation and the weather on the day, pulled from your activity data. It is the same book, with the numbers that came with the day.

The book itself

What size are the books?

Every Keepsakes book is 21 x 21 cm square, from 24 to 200 pages depending on the paper you choose.

What paper and binding do you use?

Three paper stocks: Signature Matte at 120gsm, Classic Gloss at 150gsm, and Premium Gloss at 200gsm. Covers come as a hardcover with a glare-free matte laminate wrap, or a lighter softback for travelling. Books are layflat bound, so a spread opens a full 180 degrees and a photo can run across the gutter without disappearing into the spine.

How much does a photo book cost?

Pricing depends on cover, paper and page count. A 24-page softback starts at around $25, and a 200-page Premium Gloss hardcover comes to around $220. Everything in between is priced from a base plus a per-page rate, which you can work out exactly using the pricing configurator on the home page. Prices are shown in your local currency and include VAT or GST where that applies.

Which currencies and countries do you support?

Prices are shown in US dollars, pounds sterling, euros, Australian dollars or Canadian dollars, picked automatically from where you are and changeable at any time. Taxes and shipping are calculated at checkout, and delivery times vary by destination.

Ordering and delivery

How long does it take to get my book?

Books are printed, bound and quality-checked within five business days, then shipped. Total time depends on where you are, since delivery estimates vary by destination. Every book is printed to order — we do not hold stock.

Can I cancel or change my order?

You can cancel for a full refund at any time before we send the print file to our print partner, which is usually within about an hour of ordering — email us as soon as possible. After printing has begun we cannot refund a change of mind, because each book is made to your specification and cannot be resold.

What if my book arrives damaged or misprinted?

Contact us within 14 days of delivery with photos of the problem and we will reprint or refund it. If your book has not arrived within 30 days of the estimated delivery date, get in touch and we will investigate and either re-ship or refund.

Your photos and privacy

Do you use my photos to train AI models?

No. Your photos are never used to train AI or machine-learning models, and they are never sold or shared with anyone except the print partner who makes your book.

What happens to my photos after I order?

Photos and draft books are deleted automatically 90 days after your last visit, or seven days after your printed book is delivered. Everything is encrypted in storage in the meantime. You can also permanently delete every file, photo and project yourself, in one click, whenever you want.

Who owns the photos I upload?

You do, entirely. You grant us only the narrow permission needed to store your photos, build your layouts and send the print file to our print partner, and nothing beyond that.
